Jika Kau, diantara kesibukan harianmu, bersedia membaca ini
Maka ku mohon, menoleh sebentar ke badai tengah malam yang menghadang anakmu
Pun ke pulau seberang, yang anginnya menidurkan menantu ibumu
Pun kepada potongan telinga ibumu yang tercecer : Ah, sebagiannya dibawa lari anjing hingga perempatan jalan
Pun kepada Anak tetanggamu yang kini mengencingi anakmu setiap hari
Pun kepada cempal kotak-kotak yang berlubang akibat waktu yang tajam
Juga pada aneka kebencian jasad-jasad di belakang jalan
Menengoklah sebentar, waktumu tidak akan terlalu terbuang,
(Pembunuhan harianmu bisa menunggu sebentar)
di leher mereka berbekas matamu yang nyalang


Sore ketika kutulis ini, adalah sore yang sama
Ketika kepulan asap dapurmu kembali menarikku,
Menyesap di bilik dapurmu, lalu di tiap bilik kampungmu
Ku berdoa supaya habis jalan, agar tidak ada lagi yang kau bongkar,
Lalu kupandang caramu di dapur (menjaga apimu nyala) ku menarik doaku
Kuminta kau menyelesaikan tanda tanya, dan kau meneriakiku;
Aku lebih bersyukur kau meneriakiku dan tidak menyelesaikan satupun tanda tanya
Ketika kau menipu semua orang, sedang tanganmu terus menyayat leher anjing-anjing
Ku berharap dapat membersihkan belatimu, supaya semua orang paham.
Ketika kau menoleh, menghentikan sebentar kesibukanmu, nyawa anjing-anjing itu di leher
Aku malah mencekik sampai nyawa itu melayang menyusul jasad di jalanan tempo hari
-Barang kali kau ingat
Aku membawa kepadamu ampas kopi dari serbetku,
Kemarin sore ketika sisa ampas kopi kau buang


Lalu ku pungut- ku serahkan padamu- kau menerimanya- kau seduh- kau serahkan padaku- aku diminta menunggu;
Kau mendekatiku, menyerahkan belati dan memaksaku mengaduk.
Kopimu kuaduk, kuaduk pelan-pelan sampai warnanya memerah
Tak apa kopiku masam, asal belatimu kembali tajam.
